"Chill and Donate" Iris Week in 2011 adopted the "Chill and Donate" format where a group of complementary therapists arrange a party of therapies in their home for friends, neighbours or family members in return for a donation to charity. It’s nice to give something back in return for donations. Our thanks to a number of therapists who ran parties to raise money for Iris in our first Iris Week event, including: Alison Kirkwood : Sarah Urquhart-Taylor : Jenny Gilbert Jane Baron : Anna Valente : the Stewart family from Inverkip Shawhead Nursery Centre : Lorna Forrester : Ian Duncan * Movember is an event in the cancer charities calendar when men grow a moustache during November in aid of Prostate Cancer |
Charity Fashion Show “Chill and Donate” Edzell style Iris team member Sally Mack recalls, “On the 10th March we held a Fashion Show in the Glen Esk Hotel, Edzell for Iris's Chill and Donate week. What an evening! The show was a tremendous success raising an amazing £1,163. Thanks go to Elizabeth Havens of Laurencekirk for providing the outfits and jewellery, to Colleen Rae of RaeZorSharp Salon for hair styling, to the Glen Esk Hotel for the venue and to 1st Class Florist for the flower arrangements. Our therapists Mairi Mackenzie and Christine Paterson deserve special thanks for taking to the catwalk like professionals and donating their treatments as prizes. Also to Sharon Pace for stepping in to help at the last minute.” Photos are courtesy of Ian Shewan. |
