Curriculum - Level 1

Level 1 comprises the following modules:

On completion of the above, therapists will receive a Certificate of Completion of Level 1 of the Iris Curriculum and will be entitled to use the term ‘Iris Massage Therapist 1’. Therapists may also then register with Iris for a period of 1 year, and gain access to benefits such as use of the Iris logo on literature, being entitled to deliver service on behalf of Iris, and having their details entered on a Register which can be used by people living with cancer to source a therapist.

Therapists may take the Massage for People Living with Cancer module and incorporate it into the work they already do but may not call themselves Iris Massage Therapists.

Curriculum - Level 2

Level 2 comprises the following modules:

On completion of the above therapists will receive a Certificate of Completion of Level 2 of the Iris curriculum and will be entited to use the term ‘Iris Massage Therapist 2’.  It will also allow registration for a further period of 2 years

We also provide a Review Day, which will revise all of the techniques from the Massage for People Living with Cancer course and which contributes to our CPD requirement for registered therapists.

Our Standards

Iris intends to maintain, through the registration process, a consistently high standard of care delivered by therapists. In order to renew an existing registration a therapist will therefore require have to provide evidence of completion of appropriate CPD on an annual basis.

This is described further in the Registration area of the site but, in simple terms, CPD compliance can be met through one full or two partial CPD credits. These can be gained from activities of different types, including courses, volunteering and paid service.
